Organizers for the Northwest Michigan Toys for Tots started their collection count Sunday and say it looks like they're on track to meet their goal this year.

Volunteers at the Traverse City Coast Guard Air Station were busy Sunday, sorting through thousands of Toys for Tots donations. And while organizers say it's great to see the folks donate their time, what they really need right now is a serious boost in toy donations.

The Toys for Tots campaign will kick off Saturday, November 20th at the Great Wolf Lodge. The kick-off event will be held from noon until 2 p.m. at the Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City. The event will feature a Santa fly-in aboard a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter.
