A new member has joined my household - a cute little pup named "Karma".

I've wanted a dog for a long time, have researched different breeds and also looked into many rescue groups.  I wanted the timing to be perfect and wanted to be very prepared for taking on a new pet before making the leap.

I was scrolling through petfinder.com about two weeks ago when I came upon my new pup.  Karma's mom was a boxer/lab and her dad was a boxer/german shepherd.  I love all those breeds but have a special fondness for the boxer.  I guess you could say I fell in love at first sight!

I contacted Michigan Friends Rescue Shelter in Morley where Karma was staying and filled out the application.  Thursday I got word I was approved and that I could pick Karma up over the weekend.  I was thrilled!!

Everyone at the station has also welcomed Karma with open arms (really, who could resist that adorable face of hers!!)  I am dubbing her the official 7&4 and 29&8 News Hound.  She made her debut on UpNorthLive Tonight Monday evening and I'm including a link to the video HERE.

I will continue to blog about life with our new puppy, and if you have any puppy training tips please fill me in!  I am crate training her and she is doing amazing!!  I couldn't have asked for a better fit into our family.

Cool tools and recycling to grow my green thumb

I spent my Easter weekend enjoying some 'green' therapy.  The sun was shining and spring is in the air, which made it the perfect backdrop to continue my quest of growing a green thumb!
