Many times when I am catching a flight I hope and pray the seat next to me is empty, especially when it’s a smaller plane, but my recent flight from Traverse City to Chicago was a great experience because of the passenger sitting next to me.

I’ve blogged before about how everyone has a story.  This woman had a dozen at least and as she was talking and I was asking questions, I was also making a mental list to follow up with her on possible news stories.

She is a daycare center owner of 23 years, who recently started back to college.  With the daycare center owners now being forced to join the UAW union we chatted about the impact to her and why she thinks it was wrong for much of the flight.  It was interesting to hear how it is impacting her and the families who hire her.

As we were talking and our short flight was ready to land she mentioned a tid bit that made me say “wow”.  Her uncle was Jimmy Hoffa!  I can't remember ever saying this .... I wish our flight was longer!!
