TRAVERSE CITY -- It was a unique cultural demonstration at the Grand Traverse Mall Saturday as dozens of Native American people broke into dance for a flash mob performance.
More than 100 people from the Native American community came together Saturday afternoon to take part in the Idle No More Flash Mob Round dance.
Round dances are a special native gathering that usually take place in the winter months. The men and women hold hands and dance around in circles while others provide music by playing hand drums
Saturday’s event was held to show support to their first nation's relatives in Canada and to protest the recent passing of the C-45 bill in Canada.
7&4 News is told that security from the Grand Traverse Mall called the Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office because of the flash mob. Sheriff Deputies did show up however they allowed the performers to complete their dances.
