Police searching for missing hunter in Cheboygan County

UPDATE: The hunter was found today at 11:55.

He has a mild case of hypothermia but was not hospitalized.

According to a press release from the Michigan State Police, Troopers and K9 handlers were able to locate the missing person's car in Section 20 of Nunda Township in Cheboygan County. The hunter was located about one mile off the road.

A search and rescue is underway into a missing bird hunter in the Cheboygan County area. 

The Michigan State Police Post in Gaylord confirms that the 48 year old man from Greenville went missing Tuesday and spent the night in the woods.

Police did make contact with the man through his cell phone and he told authorities he is cold, wet and in need of help finding his way out of the wooded area.  The man's vehicle is described as a brown 2012 Honda SUV. 

Michigan State Police and The Department of Natural Resources are involved with the search effort.  The DNR aviation division out of Lansing is also being activated to aid with the search.
