LELAND -- Leland High School held a mock election Tuesday.

About a thousand students from 11 local schools filled the gym. A rally was held where students gave speeches about candidates and state ballot proposals.

After the rally, students had a chance to meet with some candidates and ask them questions before casting their vote.

Leland students have spent months preparing for the event in their government class.

The results are starting to come in, but Leland High School students already calculated their votes. Democratic candidates including President Barack Obama, won across the board.
