Those who use the Tart Trail in Traverse City can feel a little safer.

The Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office tells 7&4 News that they now have identified the man who attacked a woman on the trail and tried to drag her into the woods.

Sheriff Tom Bensley confirmed late Monday afternoon that a suspect has been arrested and is now is police custody.

Last Sunday, a woman walking her dog on the Boardman Lake Trail says a man approached her from behind, placed her in a bear hug, and tried to force her into a wooded area. She fought back and got away unharmed.

The Michigan State Police worked with the victim on a sketch of the subject. Sheriff's investigators spent several days put ting together a line-up and following up on several tips.

Monday morning a warrant was issued for the suspect's arrest. He is now being questioned by detectives and we should know his name Tuesday.
