KENT COUNTY -- Authorities say one northern Michigan woman is dead and two others are clinging to life Saturday, after a rollover accident on a busy interstate in Cascade Township.

Our sister-state WOOD-TV tells us emergency crews were called out to a rollover accident on I-96, near the 28th Street Ramp at around 11:00am Saturday morning.

Michigan State Police say it appears the car was traveling too fast as it entered the Eastbound ramp and this caused the car to roll several times.

Authorities on scene say that one woman, a backseat passenger, was killed. Two other women, who were the front seat passenger and the driver, were injured; at least one had critical injuries.

The names of the people involved in the rollover have not been released but authorities did say all three women are believed to be from the Traverse City area.

Michigan State Police continue to investigate the accident.
