TRAVERSE CITY -- It's one of the fastest growing communities in Northern Michigan, but one of Traverse City's most highly anticipated development projects seems to have stalled.

Signs posted where Hotel Indigo is supposed to be built say the $14 million project will be complete next Spring, but plans have changed.

Downtown Developement Authority Executive Director, Bryan Crough says, "They had financing lined up through a federal program. That program was abolished and at the last minute they have been working to get different and more financing. They now have that in place."

The DDA is meeting with the hotel's developers next Wednesday to work out a new start date for construction.

Meanwhile, other new businesses are starting to pop up down the city's main drag. Wet Mitten, a surf store, is opening on Front Street in Mid November. The owners are leasing space from the Darga Works building next to the new Grand Traverse Pie Company.

Brilliant Books is set to open on Front Street next to Murdick's Fudge by this weekend.

The DDA says 25 businesses have inquired about available spaces downtown over the past few weeks.
