SOUTH OF BEAVER ISLAND -- UPDATE: The bodies of two people have been pulled from the water. A dive team recovered the bodies around 9:30 a.m.. names are not being released at this time.

Coast Guard officials have confirmed that thunderstorms overnight into Monday morning impacted the Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac Island. The search is currently underway for two missing racers.
Just after midnight Monday morning south of North Fox Island near Beaver Island in Lake Michigan, the boat the Sociable found six passengers who were removed from the boat the Wingnuts. Those crew members were taken to Charlevoix.
Two crew members are still reported missing from that boat. Coast Guard officials are conducting a massive search along the area for the missing people. According to the Coast Guard out of Charlevoix, the boat is registered out of Saginaw.
The Coast Guard out of Charlevoix conducted four active searches in the Charlevoix sector. The Traverse City Coast Guard also brought their helicopter in to assist with the search.
Station St. Ignace is also sending out one of their search boats to assist. Currently, Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw is acting as the base point out in Lake Michigan where the search is underway. The Charlevoix Dive Team was also assembled and is assisting in the searching around the sunken vessel.
