Central Lake mourns death of elementary student

Olivia Hurst died Sunday of a complications of penumonia. She was 8 years old.

ANTRIM CO. -- An 8 year old female student at Central Lake Elementary died Sunday from complications of pneumonia.

The Health Department said the school was thoroughly cleaned and sanitized and given the ok to hold class on Monday.

Superintendent Ben Williams posted a letter on the schools website saying, "We are all deeply saddened at the loss of one of our elementary school students. Please keep the Hurst family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time." 

Williams went on to say, "I talked with the Medical Director of the Health Department, Dr. Meyerson, and he assured me that our current cleaning regimen ensures the facilities are as clean and safe as possible."

According to Mortensen Funeral Home, funeral arrangements are pending at this time. You can send flowers and sympathy cards on the funeral home's website.

Grief counselors were at the school on Monday.
