TRAVERSE CITY -- Chef Phil Murray, Owner of Phil's on Front restaurant in Traverse City is helping you create some of his favorite dishes in your own kitchen every week on UpNorthLive Tonight on ABC 29&8 at 6:30 p.m.

This week, Phil shares one of his favorite desserts: Opera Cake. Basically, there is a layer of almond cake, chocolate ganache, mocha buttercream, and topped with whipped cream.

Phil also wants to remind everyone that he will be serving his Opera Cake on his revamped "comfort food" menu. Some of the new items featured include Gourmet meatloaf, Rabbit Fricasee, Pork/Chicken Confit, Pork and Beans, Phil's BBQ Platter and Iceberg Wedge salad. All of those items are under $20!

Phil will be offering a complimetary Christmas dinner on December 25, 2012. Local donors will be providing fresh food and volunteers will be on-hand to serve it. It will be from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Phil's on Front. Then, on December 20, 2012, Phil will be having a Latin Christmas Party. The food and music will be latin-inspired! Miriam Pico will be singing and Phil is bringing in a guest chef from Costa Rica to serve up some special latin dishes. Phil's on Front is located at 236 East Front Street.
