The possibility of a new Meijer store coming to Grand Traverse County took a big step towards becoming a reality Monday night. The township planning commission heard the revised plans for the superstore and green lighted the changes.

Meijer has been looking to build a new store in Acme Township for years. The plan was delayed with a lawsuit brought by former township officials and an investigation into possible misconduct by the retailer. Monday night, the township's planning commission reviewed revised plans from the Grand Rapids based for the store that would be built off of M-72 as phase 1 of the Village at Grand Traverse.

Meijer presented plan modifications that included adding around 4800 square feet to the store, as well as less noticeable changes like moving the location of the pharmacy and bottle return. The commission approved the changes in an unanimous vote.
