The Presque Isle County woman accused of starving dozens of animals was back in front of a circuit court judge on Monday. Christine Thompson plead not guilty to one felony count of animal abuse, and withdrew her private attorney, requesting a court appointed one instead.
Thompson faces charges that she abused or neglected dozens of animals on her Hawk's farm. A judge ruled that she must give up the 33 horses, 5 dogs, and 3 pigs that were found on the property. The animals have been sent to foster families, and are in the process of being nursed back to health.
If convicted Thompson faces up to 4 years in prison if convicted on all charges. Her next court appearance is set for February 11th.
