Low pressure crossing through SE MI will bring rain, freezing rain, wintry mix, and snow across the area before changing over to all snow-the heaviest falling after midnight into your early Sunday morning.

A winter weather advisory is in effect from midnight tonight until 10am Sunday for all of the counties in the Lower Peninsula due to accumulating ice and 2-4" of snow possible through Sunday morning.

A lake effect snow advisory is in effect for Luce County in the E. U.P. from 1pm Sunday through 7am Monday. While the southern side of the county will get 1-3", the areas nearest Lake Superior may get 6-10".

Central Lower, higher terrain areas, and for those traveling downstate...you have a chance of ice accumulation near a quarter of an inch along with snowfall 1-5" (lesser amounts the closer you go to Lake Huron). Expect the rain to change over to freezing rain sometime around midnight near the Lake MI side/GR area, closer to 3am for the southern part of the state (Jackson area).

The main problem with accumulating ice is that it could cause power outages. The combination of the ice and snow - expect deteriorating road conditions tonight and poor traveling conditions for many Sunday morning.

As we head into later Sunday and Monday, we'll see lake effect snow showers stick around with winds out of the west/northwest.
