MOUNT PLEASANT (AP) -- A man has been ordered to stand trial in the fatal stabbing of a 20-year-old man at an apartment building in Mount Pleasant.

Judge Thomas Brookover ruled Thursday there is sufficient evidence for 25-year-old Curtis Leachman to go to trial on an open charge of murder and a count of witness intimidation in the death of Tyrone Stanley on Nov. 24. Brookover also approved a request from Isabella County prosecutors to add a charge of carrying a concealed weapon with unlawful intent.

Stanley was stabbed during a fight in the hallway between apartments in the early morning hours.

According to the Morning Sun, defense attorney Thomas Weiss says Stanley was the aggressor and that Leachman was in his home and defending himself when the fight broke out.
