Cheboygan County's only ambulance service is preparing for longer routes to hospitals.

CHEBOYGAN -- Cheboygan Memorial Hospital's sudden closure is leaving emergency crews left scrambling to come up with a new plan to take care of life and dealth situations in the area.

Cheboygan Life Support is the only ambulance company in the area. The director says patients will be taken to the nearest, appropriate medical facility depending on the emergency.

Those suffering from a critical health issue like a heart attack will be taken to McLaren Northern Hospital in Petoskey. If you live in Wolverine or Indian River, the ambulance could transport you to Mackinac Straights Hospital or Otsego Memorial.
