Ballet Etc. has provided dance education to the Traverse City region since 1996. We offer classes in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Tap, Irish and Pre-School Dance for ages 3 through adult. Ballet Etc. is a competition-free dance studio. That is, we do not promote sports-like competitions nor do we expect parents to shell out hundreds of dollars for expensive costumes, entrance fees and costly travel and hotel expenses.
Our mission is to provide dance education that focuses on technique and performance skills built on a solid foundation. Costumes for our annual spring performance are simple accessories added to the student's required class attire. No costumes need to be purchased. The emphasis is to present a program that demonstrates the technical and artistic progress of our students, who relish a true feeling of accomplishment.
Additional performance opportunities are available with the Northwest Michigan Ballet Theatre, open to dancers 9-18 by audition. This non-profit 501c3 company performs an annual full-length ballet production as well as an elementary school outreach-touring program.

The answer: Yes, Ballet Etc. offers Creative Movement and Pre-Ballet for ages 3-6. Question What is the one thing you would like potential dancers to know about your business? Answer We are not just a ballet school. We also offer classes in Jazz, Modern, Tap, Pre-school Dance, Adult Ballet, and Pilates for ages 3 through adult. Question What sets your business apart from your competition? Answer The school does not subscribe to dance teams, competitions, or flashy and costly costumes.
