FRANKFORT -- A Benzie County community will soon have a new state-of-the-art library.

The plans are being unveiled for the major renovation project at the Benzie Shores District Library in Frankfort next week.

The main goals of the project are to improve the children's area, increase electrical capacity for lap-tops and computers, and make the library more "green" by adding energy efficient lighting.

While the project was supposed to get underway a year ago, officials say the delay gave them extra time to fine tune the plans.

"It's been in the planning a long time, but we did take a year, which was a good thing to do," Explains Cathy Carter, Library Director. "We took that year off and let our investments build but also during that time we were able to really submit our plans so now we're very comfortable with the design and how the new library will be."

The public meeting will take place next Thursday, Nov. 12.  It will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the library on Main St. in Frankfort.

Construction is slated to begin in January.  During that time a temporary library will be set up in a store-front also on Main Street.
