Ferris State University is mourning the loss of one of its students

BIG RAPIDS -- A Ferris State University student is dead after he was hit by a car in Big Rapids.
It happened around 8:00 a.m. Friday on State Street near Ferris Drive. The man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
University officials are in the process of notifying the victim's family and have made arrangements to provide counseling support to faculty, staff and students.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
