Little Traverse Bay Humane Society Launches New Dog Training Program!
Little Traverse Bay Humane Society has launched a comprehensive new training program, created under the guidance of world renowned dog behaviorist, Brenda Aloff, to provide dogs with a great start in basic obedience and minimize undesirable behaviors so they can put their best paw forward!Beginning February 1, 2013, the Little Traverse Bay Humane Society Daycare and Train Program will offer dogs the opportunity to spend the day socializing with other dogs while also benefiting from one-on-one obedience and behavior modification training with a Little Traverse Bay Humane Society dog trainer. “We are thrilled to launch this program to help pet parents and their dogs learn how to communicate with each other,” said Little Traverse Bay Humane Society executive director, Deter Racine. “This program was created to build a foundation for obedience and to encourage good behavior with a dog trainer while also giving dogs exercise and the opportunity to play with other dogs. We feel this program is a win-win for both our two and four-legged clients.” Basic obedience includes every day commands such as “watch, “sit, “down” and “stay,” while behavior modification techniques are effective in curbing undesirable behaviors such as jumping and pulling on the leash. Before the program begins, clients will meet with a trainer to discuss their dog’s individual needs and set goals. Each day, they will receive a progress report when they pick their dog up. The trainer will also explain and demonstrate techniques to work on at home. Each four-week course consists of daycare and private training sessions two days a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) catered to the needs of each individual dog dog. Drop-off is between 7:30-10 a.m. and pick-up is between 4-5:30 p.m. at the Little Traverse Bay Humane Society Training Center. The cost of the Little Traverse Bay Humane Society Daycare and Train Program is $240. This fee includes eight days of daycare plus eight hours of one-on-one training sessions with a Little Traverse Bay Humane Society dog trainer.Little Traverse Bay Humane Society also offers group classes and private sessions with dogs and their owners to help with more serious behavior issues such as resource guarding, reactivity or aggression. Please call 231.347.2396 for more information.About Little Traverse Bay Humane Society
