For immediate release:Traverse City - The first 2013 Constitution Defender Award was awarded to Rick and Lori Dubro of Ricos cafe in Grawn. The award is given to politicians and private citizens who honor the constitution with support of tradition, rule of law, and service to our community. Previous recipients include State Representative Ray Franz, US Representative Justin Amash, and Constitution Celebration founder Jody Ferry.The award reads:
"On this day, January 23, 2013, let it be known that Rick and Lori Dubro, have been recognized by the Constitution Celebration Committee and membership as persons of indefatigable character, who abide by the laws of our country, and defend with vigor, the principles of its founding by lawful means.These persons’ actions have had a positive impact on the community, and have promoted a better understanding of our founding documents through writings or actions and has shown a willingness to resist usurpation of the rights granted by our Constitution. These defenders promote awareness of the United States Constitution through outreach and participation, a support of our veterans, and an unfailing dedication towards preserving tradition for our children and beyond."Rick and Lori were initially identified for their dedication and promotion of service to our veterans.The recipient of this award could also be selected for the "Grand Defender" award in September; a top honor selected from four given throughout the year. The Grand Defender is announced during the Constitution Celebration Event; the third annual event, which is scheduled for the 15th of September this year.###From left to right:
