Benefit for Traverse Health Clinic's Women's Health Department
Traverse City, MI (November 27, 2012) – On Saturday, December 8, 2012, Black Star Farms Tasting Room on Old Mission Peninsula will host “The Mission is Giving”, a holiday art and craft show to benefit Traverse Health Clinic. Proceeds will go to fund the Women’s Health Services Program. This holiday show is being held in conjunction with the Wineries of Old Mission’s Day of Caring, where all the WOMP wineries donate 15% of their proceeds for the day to a charity of their choice. Black Star Farms has selected Traverse Health Clinic. Shop local artists and craftsmen at the Black Star Farms Tasting Room, just in time for your holiday gift giving needs. ####About the ClinicThe Traverse Health Clinic is a safety net network delivering healthcare to the uninsured and underserved. The organization began in 1975, when a small group of northern Michigan doctors and nurses came together to provide free healthcare to the region’s needy. Today, 35 employees and nearly 500 volunteer providers ensure that the regions needy get the health care they need.
The Clinic programs serve more than 2,500 individuals each month, providing access to services ranging from primary care, specialty, vision, dental, and mental health services, to outpatient services at participating hospitals. In 2012, over $9 million worth of medical services was provided to Clinic patients. The non-profit organization is supported by private donations, grants, and state funding designated for indigent care. The Clinic itself is headquartered at 3147 Logan Valley Road in Traverse City.
