Women age 40 or older should have a yearly mammogram, a yearly clinical breast exam (CBE) performed by a health care professional, and a monthly breast self-examination. The CBE should be done close to, and preferably before, the scheduled mammogram.Women ages 20-39 should have a CBE performed by a health care professional every three years and a breast self-examination every month.
