4 medium delicious apples, peeled and cored
1 lemon, juiced
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg,
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
4 tablespoons butter, cut into pieces
2 ounces, 1/8 cup, raisins, chopped
1/4 cup chopped walnuts or walnut pieces or pecans
¼ cup sugar
All-purpose flour, for dusting
4 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed approx 5x5
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Position an oven rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 375 degrees.
Sprinkle cored apples with lemon juice. Mix Brown Sugar, nutmeg, Cinnamon, butter nuts and raisins and over-stuff apples.
Lightly dust the counter or work surface with flour. Lay the puff pastry on top of the flour. Brush with egg wash sprinkle with regular sugar. Place the apples in the dough and bring the corners to the top. Pinch the corners to seal the apples. Cut small holes in the side of the apples for steam to escape. Add decoration if necessary.
Brush the entire apple with egg wash then sprinkle with cinnamon and remaining sugar. Place the apples on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes at 325, rotating halfway through cooking, until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
Remove from the oven and top with vanilla ice cream
