Traverse City, MI - WPBN-WTOM TV 7&4 News has been awarded a Regional Murrow Award for Best News Documentary, by the Radio and Television News Directors Association. The Nuke Next Door, a news documentary produced and reported by 7&4 News Anchor Marc Schollett, was honored with a Region 7 Murrow Award in the small market category.

The documentary focused on the decommissioning of the Big Rock Nuclear Power Plant in Charlevoix, Michigan. In a sixth month investigation, 7&4 News focused on documents from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission looking into incidents at the facility over the 30 years it was open. The show also looked at what’s next for the facility as it has been returned to a natural state and could possibly become a state park or used for development. 7&4 News Director Doug DeYoung stated, “It is an honor to be recognized for the work we do in our community to better server our viewers.”
