School: Wayne State University
Hometown: Canton, MI

Erika grew up in Canton and lived in downtown Detroit for 2 years. In Detroit, she received her Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism from Wayne State University.

She has always loved writing, acting, drawing and painting, so it was hard for her to choose a career. It may have taken her awhile to figure out what she wanted to do, but she soon realized the world of journalism satisfies her hunger for news, writing and meeting new people. No day at TV 7&4 is the same.

While at Wayne State, Erika interned at WJBK-TV FOX 2 and learned more than a textbook could teach her!

She discovered that the fast-paced newsroom atmosphere was a perfect fit. Erika's experience at Wayne State and FOX 2 taught her self-discipline and definitely gave her some thicker skin.

Upon her graduation in December 2009, Erika was honored as the Wayne State University Journalism Graduate of the Year. She will miss living near her University campus, but easily loves living near the gorgeous Grand Traverse Bay!

Erika jumped at the chance to move to beautiful Traverse City because Michigan is where her family is... and of course, Charli, her Vizsla puppy. She is thrilled to start her career close to home and to work in a city that feels like a vacation every morning she wakes up.

When she isn't working she's probably soaking up some sunshine, playing outside with Charli, or watching a baseball game. Eat 'em up Tigers, eat 'em up!
